A coop made of a safe, rot-resistant wood Update 4/26/2012: A 1-star review claiming that cedar chicken coops like this one will kill your chickens has disappeared (deleted by reviewer, or removed by amazon as violating guidelines?), and while my review was partly in response to that one, I am leaving this review here, in case the information is useful to anyone. If you are into chickens, I am sure you will eventually stumble upon the cedar controversy, as I did, so maybe you will benefit from the research I have done.Original review:I don’t have this coop but I do have chickens and do know something about cedar. I see that other reviewers dissed this product because they think the wood might be harmful for chickens. Nonsense. It’s important to use caution when you purchase something, but it is also important to use caution before destroying someone’s business. My intention is NOT to promote this product, but to help neutralize the damage done by negative reviews based on misinformation…

Very Cute! Ordered this for the grandkids 4-H chickens. It was cute in the photo, and looks nice in the yard. It arrived on time, and assembled easy. It states that it is suitable for four chickens, but we found that only two barnyard chickens would comfortably fit. For the smaller 4-H chickens, we just opted to purchase another to accommodate them and keep the pecking and disagreements to a minimum. Would, and did, purchase a second one because of the quality and nice look. If you are attempting to house more than two or three normal size birds you might want to consider a larger coup.
