Just the right size! We only have 3 chickens, but I would guess that this would feed 6 easily. The reason why is that it holds quite a bit of food. It is deep and wide enough front to back, to really load it up.You would have to see the alternative we had been using to fully appreciate this. it was red plastic and long, but not wide or deep. It needed to be filled every other day, and it needed added legs to keep it stable.This one has pretty decent legs too. The top wire rack is hinged. I expect this one to last alot longer than the red plastic one too. The plastic one had holes that were too small, and the plastic was getting brittle after only 6 months. Not sure, but it looked like it was made here. You know where the other one was made.UPDATEWell, I did end up attaching legs (sticks) to the wire feet to keep it from tipping over. Then I took the sticks off & lifted it up on the side of the cage to help keep the rocks out from scratching (the legs will…

Perfect I used to feed the girls from a large dog type bowl but found that a lot of the feed ended up on the ground and was wasted. Since I am now feeding from this trough there is very little waste. I secured it to the side of the coop so that it cannot be knocked over.
